OVERVIEW
The Archive Valley Masterclass
Archival storytelling is on the rise, but many documentary professionals feel daunted about how to start & where to start an archival research process.
So at Archive Valley, we took action by designing an online course about the ins & outs of archival research. This is quite unique in the film & tv industry, and we're proud because it's now our 8th edition!
Engaging and practical, the Archive Valley Masterclass is a mix of live sessions and online lessons, including some 12 hours of in-depth conversations with renowned archive producers - and a collaborative archival directory! The attendees will also enjoy an exclusive expert session with a special guest recently credited on a high-rated documentary or docuseries.
Our objective is to empower you with the archival knowledge and best practices needed to work with archives, especially archival footage, and help you better deal with the many aspects of archival research, from pre-production through to master deliveries.
Not only will you learn how to start a research process on the right track so as to avoid frustrating challenges on the path, but you will also come away with a solid methodology for your next projects.
Amongst our 100 past attendees, we've been happy to welcome directors, producers, production coordinators, post-production supervisors, editors, as well as aspiring archive researchers.
The Archive Valley Masterclass suits all kinds of nonfiction projects and is particularly relevant for freelancers and team members willing to level their skills up, and get ready for upcoming docs and docu-series.
