Community Guidelines

We are committed to treating all our members equally, we work hard to improve our platform regularly, and do our best to help everyone as much as we can.

That being said, we expect a few things from you. Here are some DOs and DON’Ts that we would like you to follow to make sure things run smoothly here on Archive Valley.

DO's

* FILL IN YOUR PROFILE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

Please upload a profile picture, fill out your language(s) spoken, your top topics, and a bit about your work.

* BE PRECISE WHEN MAKING A FOOTAGE REQUEST OR ENQUIRING ABOUT HIRING A RESEARCHER.

If you make a precise request, you’ll have more chances to get exactly what you’re looking for.

* BE NICE : TRY TO ANSWER ANY MESSAGE YOU RECEIVE FROM ARCHIVE PROVIDERS.

Even if a boutique archive sends footage that doesn’t meet your requirements, please make sure you reply to their message. It keeps the exchange more civil and friendly and also motivates them to search thoroughly on your next request even if the material is buried in their “to digitize” pile!.

* TELL US HOW WE’RE DOING.

You just came across a bug or something that doesn’t look normal? Have an idea for a feature or a suggestion? Just tell us. We love hearing from you, and we will answer you as quickly as possible!

DONT's

* DON’T INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR MESSAGES.

Our tool only allows phone numbers and emails through once you’re working with someone. Your collaborators will receive email notifications when you send a message, request a preview or quote, approve a quote, pay, etc…

* DON'T POST ANY INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT ON THE PLATFORM.

If you come across any disturbing or inappropriate content including comments, messages, pictures and videos, please notify us so we can do the necessary to delete this content.

If anything was not covered here or you have any questions please let us know!
